Dr. G. Chandran
MD, FRCSC
Dr. Chandran grew up in Saskatchewan. He obtained his Bachelor of Science and was awarded the University of Saskatchewan President’s Gold Medal as the top graduate. In 2001, he completed medical school at the University of Saskatchewan and obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with Great Distinction.
After performing research in wound healing at the University of Alberta with Dr. E.E. Tredget, he entered an anesthesia residency at Memorial University in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He returned to Saskatoon to obtain training in general surgery at the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Chandran, then, completed his plastic surgery residency at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
After his residency, he underwent fellowship training at the University of Manitoba in reconstructive microsurgery under Dr. E. Buchel. During the fellowship, Dr. Chandran specialized in microsurgical free flap reconstruction of the breast, trunk, extremities and head & neck. He also had the opportunity to learn various techniques in aesthetic surgery and body contouring. After ten years of postgraduate medical training, Dr. Chandran started practice in Regina specializing in all aspects of plastic surgery including microsurgical reconstruction, hand surgery and aesthetic surgery. Dr. Chandran also has a specialized interest in nonsurgical aesthetic procedures including Botox, injectable fillers and body contouring.
In September 2013, Dr. Chandran moved his practice to his hometown, Saskatoon. To the people of Saskatchewan, he offers a wide array of aesthetic and reconstructive surgeries. He is involved with the education of future physicians as a clinical assistant professor and the lead for undergraduate plastic surgery education. He is also the provincial section head of plastic surgery in the physician leadership in Saskatchewan.
With his young family, Dr. Chandran also explores the natural beauty of Saskatchewan throughout the year. In his spare time, Dr. Chandran enjoys sports, camping, gourmet cooking and reading.
Dr. Chandran is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Canadian Society of Plastics Surgeons, Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Saskatchewan Medical Association and the Atlantic Society of Plastic Surgeons.
